I’m going to be in the car with my ~70 year-old mother for 12 hours of driving to my aunt’s… and then driving home a week later….

I desperately need an audiobook we can both enjoy that will not be either gory or explicit, but will still be entertaining enough we won’t have to try to talk to each other the entire drive 🤣.

She loves Ken Folliet/similar and also Catholic nonfiction… I am more into epic high fantasy so we do not really overlap in tastes much. She is 100% NOT a fan of fantasy/science fiction.
I would rather avoid romance completely.

I do take her with me to our city’s Broadway musical productions, and she loves those (she loved Book of Mormon, Lion King, and liked Beetlejuice and SIX) so she does have a sense of humour.

Last time we were together we watched the show “Recipes for Love and Murder” on my Acorn account and she seemed to like that. I can usually get away with “Death in Paradise” otherwise we just default to Andy Griffith.

Side note: I recently listened to the very silly “Kill the Farm Boy” which had me laughing, crying, and then laughing again. I know there’s too much fantasy lore in this for her to enjoy though, or I would happily listen to it again.

Sorry for the novella I wrote above… thank you to all who made it to the end! 😂

    1. The Father Brown books by G. K. Chesterton might be worth a look. The sleuth in that series is a priest.
