    Spoilers for Rebecca, I guess….

I just finished listening to Rebecca and I’m sorry to say I found it very boring and couldn’t wait to get it finished. The one bit that did perk my interest was when Max reveals what happened and basically implies she was a shameless hussy who tricked him into marrying her and bankrolling her debauched lifestyle. I also found the idea that she might have manipulated him into killing her pretty good too.

Long story short, I finished it thinking I’d love to read a really good telling of those events from Rebecca’s POV. I’ve read a few books that were based on classics, like Havisham (Great Expectations), and Becky (Vanity Fair), neither of which were very good. I see the 1984 retelling that’s out at the moment is getting good reviews too.

So yeah, I’m wondering first of all if the events leading up to Rebecca have ever been written from Rebecca’s POV, and also what other classics do you think you’d like to see told from someone else’s POV. (I know there’s a load of Greek myths being done lately as feminist retellings, which is great and all, but I don’t mean that style, just a retelling, from any angle.)

Or also if you’ve read any good ones that you’d recommend.
