Hi all,
I just wanted to know if I should read the books in publication order or story order. I have both books but I know Priory came out before Fallen Night and apparently Fallen Night is the prequel. Unless I’m wrong. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I read the prequal first. I saw somewhere that they did a lot more world building in it and I liked the idea of getting a scope for the world first since in book 1 i heard it could be confusing.
Both were amazing and after reading them i think either order would be fine. The prequel imo is better written however ( reality of writer growth so to be expected) but I think it sets a perfect dreamscape vibe to jump right into the1st book.
I was told release order!
Release order.
I found Priory well-written and engaging, but had to give up because the lack of world-building left me feeling that I had no firm ground to stand on in order to understand the gravity of the story.
It’s possible to trust the reader’s intelligence and just jump in successfully; Iain M. Banks’ space opera Consider Phlebas does this exceptionally well, but Priory was too much for me.
