I’ve been noticing a troubling trend in my thought process lately that I wanted to discuss. It seems like whenever there’s a significant delay between someone speaking to me and my response, my mind starts conjuring up all sorts of negative scenarios during that time, leading to unnecessary anxiety and restlessness. More often than not, these scenarios turn out to be unfounded.
I’m curious if anyone is familiar with a book that surgically delves into this tendency to create negative narratives in our minds and, more importantly, offers effective strategies for changing these narratives for the better. Have any of you come across a book like this? I’d really appreciate any recommendations or insights you might have. Thanks in advance!
P.S. I’ve already explored a lot of self-help literature, so suggestions like Dale Carnegie or Stephen Covey might be too basic for me.
