Ive never seen the usage outside of the action done by the nazis during ww2, is this intentional?
Is there a meaning to the word im unaware of?
I see she was born in 1942 so I dont think its some sort of antiquated usage. Thanks

Holocaust means great destruction (typically by fire) but people rarely use it for anything but *The* Holocaust but it was a pre-existing word with plenty of valid use.
A lot of post-apocalyptic fiction refers to a holocaust having occurred. It’s a general term used to encapsulate widespread destruction.
