First concern I have is that I’ve heard many people say that reading books feel like they’re living multiple different lives, because they can experience the point of view of the character. But when I read a book, I don’t feel like I’m experiencing the character’s pov. At most, sometimes I feel like I’m watching a movie, but never living in it.

Second problem is that I’ve watched so many YouTube videos made by YouTubers like DamiLee, Robin Waldun, and Jared Henderson saying that reading slow is good. But I don’t understand what I’m reading when I read slowly and try to savor the words. I can grasp the concept; like how eating slowly can make you full faster and enjoy the food better, but when I put that concept into reading, I don’t understand anything.

I’m new to contemporary reading—or reading books in general.

And maybe I should add this information, because it might come useful; I have Autism and Aphantasia.
