I noticed we either recommend books that stood the test of time or newer books but I believe there are hidden gems that are neither old enough to be considered classics or new enough to be hyped right now. So let’s shine some light on lesser-known books that still deserve to be discovered by new readers !!
I’ll go first :
The Genius by Jesse Kellerman. A novel about an art gallery owner who investigates old, cold-case murders after discovering the faces of the murdered children on drawings by a mysterious artist.
My name is Light by Elsa Osorio. A novel about Luz, a 20 year-old argentinian girl on a quest to discover the real story behind her birth, because it seems that the father who raised her might have stolen her to a political prisoner..

The Elven Saga written by Bernhard Hennen.
First book was published in 2004, in German. There are elves, humans, royalty, a demon. Prophecies, difficult decisions and solid world building. A typical high fantasy saga.
I enjoyed it a lot and it’s one of the books which I’d love to read for the first time again.

Bringing out the Dead by Joe Connelly. Very 90s. Also adapted into a very 90s movie.
I fell in love with reading because of Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series(13 books plus anthologies). Cell phones were known but not popular yet. It’s such a good series.
Though it technically came out in 1989, my favorite 90s book is Geek Love. Not sure if it’s considered lesser know in this sub, but it’s usually only mentioned on “weird lit” threads.
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta.
