I do read a lot of self-help or inspirational books. I would love to highlight or underline the parts I love or think would relate to me or help me. BUT, I don’t or can’t cause I do not want ANYONE to read the highlighted book and know what parts are relevant to me.
especially the self-help books.
I do let people borrow my books as I love to encourage people to read, but cause of this, I am not able to highlight. Would love to come back and read the highlighted parts only when I need a refresher.
Am I the only one who is afraid to highlight the book due to this reason?
What do you all do?

Then maybe you should be doing this on ebooks so you can’t let others borrow them if you’re that self-conscious about it.
Maybe there’s a self help book on self consciousness that would help with this
Start a word document or journal for notes. It may take a bit longer than marking a book, but improves memory as well.
They make clear post it notes. I got some on Amazon. You could underline on the note. Put the page number and take it off if you lend it out
Just don’t lend these books to others.
It’s totally okay to say, “This is my personal copy with my personal notes, and I would rather keep it to myself.”
Highlight your book. If it’s one you find helpful, buy a used copy to loan out.
