Since I was a kid I’ve been in love with The Ranger’s Apprentice series. But the next book won’t come out until the end of the year and I want another universe to immerse myself in and another cast of characters to meet and watch grow.
My favorite parts about the series is how much we get to see the more mundane, daily struggles; how detailed the thought processes of every character is, including the enemies’; and how ‘realistically’ powerful every character is. We get to see how our heroes solve their problems with their powerset and how the enemies pose real challenges with little room for mistake. Every mission they go on is a very similar feeling to a DnD session.
I’m looking for another fantasy series with a similar feeling. Heroes I can resonate with and problems that need time and effort to solve. Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks a lot in advance.

Maybe the Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series by Fritz Leiber would scratch that itch.
Classic swords and sorcery fantasy, but might be hard to find so you’d have an extra adventure of your own.
How old are you?
