I’ve been on a sci Fi kick lately and have tried to hit a lot of classic sci Fi titles but I keep leaning back towards much newer titles: Hail Mary, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, and the like. Can anyone suggest similar, new (or old that fits the vibe) that I’m missing out on? Thanks <3

*Ancillary Justice* is one of my faves in sci-fi from the last decade, about a fraction of an AI out for justice.
*Silently and Very Fast* is a much weirder novel that’s something between a fever dream and a long-form poem, also about AI, but about its relationship to the family that “owns” it.
Seveneves, Hyperion, and the Forever War.
The Expanse is the new gold standard for space opera.
A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers
A Half Built Garden by Ruthanna Emerys
The Past is Red by Catherynne Valente
The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz
Sci-fi Dark Fantasy okay?
Are you looking for “modern” as in “was written recently” or “modern” as in “feels like it’s projecting the technology we’re actually using now into the future, regardless of when it was written”?
