I am a Classical Studies student, and I am very interested in ancient literature on martyrs (Greek and Latin texts).
I have had a lot of trauma and insecurity surrounding my identity as a half-Japanese/half-American person, and a way that I’ve found that comforts me is by studying martyrs from Japan (I know sounds strange). I am in the process of learning Japanese (I know – embarrassing that I don’t know Japanese) and like with reading Latin and Greek texts from early Christianity, I’d like to read older Japanese texts concentrated around the era of Christianity spreading to Japan. I’d like book/document recommendations please, and I would prefer literature about women/by women if possible.
