Non-fiction books that give personal account of everyday life in World War 2?

I read Dear Leader last week, and I loved it. It’s a non fiction novel about a North Korean official who defects to South Korea. I would like to read a novel that is similar in that type but during WW2. Preferably from Japan/Korea/Germany.

Not necessarily any books about the atomic bombings, just everyday normal life in japan.
