Let’s say you or someone you knew lived under a rock in a cave from 1999 to 2011, and you wanted to get/give them a sense of what the 2000s in literature was all about. I’m not looking here for a “best of the 2000s” list (honestly, with giants like Harry Potter, that exercise seems almost too easy), but rather: what 5-10 books do you think are the most reflective of what the 2000s were all about (in fiction and non-fiction)?
My list, for your consideration:
1. The Kite Runner
2. Middlesex
3. 1Q84
4. The Places in Between
5. House of Leaves
I’m genuinely curious what others will come up with, I’d love some new reading material! Thank you, and have fun with it!
