I recently started reading American Psycho and I’m a few chapters in. I really want to like it, but I find the writing style very tedious. I get the satire of hyper-emphasizing the yuppy materialism of the 1980s through the detailed brand-specific descriptions, but the fact that I’m 50 pages in and the plot has barely inched forward feels like this might be a waste of time. Does the plot ever actually speed up? Or does each scene take 14 pages to describe?

I wish I never would have finished it. I am still traumatized. You get the theme. The rest of the book just ramps up the violence.
YES… from what I remember I couldn’t put it down in the second half. Really heats up
