Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve noticed that a lot of the books I read nowadays start off with a lot of action. If I remember correctly, this wasn’t the case in the past…
So, do you prefer when the first chapter launches you into an intense intro or when it starts slowly, gently introducing you to the world?

I definitely prefer a book to just “get on with it”, if you will. Getting straight to the action is how a book gets my attention, I don’t like it when 100 pages into a book, the story still hasn’t really started yet.
