    I done some research, a good part of the story is about how a guy gets off on >!rape!< [triggering] charges even though there’s a recording of his confession. He didn’t consent to the recording.

    But… Connecticut, The state in which takes place, had one party consent laws, which means as long as one person consents to recording, even if it’s the recorder, the recording is valid and can be used, so I don’t understand why they’re not using it. Did Holly Jackson not know about this law? Or did she know, and just not care?

    I’m like 1 hour until the book is over and this fact is bothering me so much.

      These books are originally set in the UK and then for some reason they decided they needed to change the US edition to be set in the US. But they didn’t do the greatest job making all the changes that would have needed to be made.

      Holly Jackson is a British author who wrote a book set in Britain. So no, she probably doesn’t know.
