My sister’s birthday is coming up on oct 30. She’s almost 14. She’s got into reading recently. She liked Harry Potter, but she absolutely adored the percy jackson series and has read ALL of the sequels and stuff by the same author.

Can anyone suggest a good fantasy series set that I can gift her on her birthday? I’m not familiar with any books.

I’ve already sort of tried asking if she wanted Narnia, but she once said it doesn’t sound interesting, so anything else? Possibly with a group of friends going on an adventure but also with an adult feel to it. She doesn’t seem to like books that *feel* as if they’re for children.

*The Golden Compass* – it’s the first of the *His Dark Materials* trilogy and the series is phenomenal – just keeps getting better. Has a great young female protagonist, too, which she might enjoy.
