I just finished reading “You”. I like the show and heard the book was good, but holy moly it was way better than I thought and so disturbing! I thought it was much better than the show. Joe is the most likeable murderer, though I hated him at the end, and his inner monolog was hilarious. I actually LOL’ed a few times. I did not really like Beck but I felt bad for her at the end. I think she was just a young girl being dumb and doing stuff for attention. But she reminded me of myself a little with some of the not so smart things I’ve done before. I really did not think it was going to be such a good book and I’m definitely going to read the others but I need a break from Joe for a while 🤣 It was intense! I felt the book was way more believable than the show for some reason. I will think twice before walking around my house in my underwear with my curtains open!

    1. Oh I also want to say the ending was sooooo tense and scary even though I knew what was going to happen. In my head I was like “C’mon just go along with it for a while so you can get out of the bookstore and run for help!!!” I was so mad she didn’t just play his game a while longer, she definitely could have escaped. But I guess that would have ruined it.

    2. The average rating for each subsequent book goes down quite a lot on Goodreads. However, I did like the first, and I want to read the others. I know the plot is different from the show starting partway through book 2.

    3. I’m just about done with the fourth book.

I’d say it’s better than the third one was, but not quite as good as the first two.

    4. I enjoyed it too and laughed at Joe’s monologues several times. He’s such a hater, hahaha! Also, I love that the book has its own style and voice.

The audio version read by santino Fontana is fantastic. He does them all. His voice is exactly how I would imagine

    6. I really enjoyed the first and the second is okay, but the third is the worst book I have ever read. I’m not going anywhere near the fourth

    7. I had to read this book for a class and I loved it. The class itself was about serial killers in media, so I already knew what I was getting in to, but dude was just so normal and yet so crazy. I didn’t know there was a third or fourth book until this thread!

I tried to get my husband to watch the show with me, but he was too creeped out after episode 1. From Wikipedia I can tell it goes crazy lmao.

    8. So many times reading this book, I put in in my lap and said wtf out loud and laughed, uncomfortably giddy for what I’d read next.

    9. One of my favorite books I read it years ago but think about it a lot. I listened to the audiobook and it was SO good.

I watched season 1 of the show and liked it, but definitely loved the book way more. The show kind of tried to make Beck less annoying and self centered than she was, it annoyed me.
