Some of my favorite books deal with mental illness in some way. I love Marya Hornbachers memoirs “Wasted” and “Madness”. My favorite novel is “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson.

I also enjoy well written sci fi and fantasy. I love the His Dark Materials trilogy, Harry Potter series and the unicorn chronicles. I usually read YA but it doesn’t have to be.

I also enjoy classics, especially Sherlock Holmes and Jane Eyre. I like manga too, especially Sailor Moon and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Just nothing with sex scenes. Please.

So consider mental health related my top interest, sci fi and fantasy second, manga third and classics fourth. Hope this is helpful for recommendations and I’m happy to answer any questions.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. There’s magic, mystery, romance.. mental health isn’t the main theme but it is a theme (to a degree).

My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga (YA, depression)

Memoirs: The Night Parade by Jami Nakamura Lin (bipolar disorder) and Solutions and Other Problems by Allie Brosh (comedic graphic novel, depression)
