I have two (at least…):
Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy
I read The Year of the Flood first, and it was so intriguing and immersive. Then realised Oryx and Crake came first, and that was quite a memorable and disturbing dystopia. And then the final MaddAddam was just like…some really bad YA novel. It was trying to cultivate a likeable gang of characters in an action plot but they were so forgettable and just bumbled around aimlessly for way too many pages.
1Q84
Parts 1 & 2 were so intriguing but then Part 3 with a whole new random character (from a different novel!) and very little plot resolution…ugh! But I would have to say, I’ve read a few Murakami and I don’t vibe ‘em.

Game of thrones.
Foundryside. The third book takes such a wildly different approach than the previous two that it really took me out.
