Daughter read A Wrinkle in Time for school, but didn’t really enjoy it. She loves Fantasy shows like Voltron, Dragon Prince, Deep, Last Airbender, Maya and the Three, He-Man etc.

Read Togo and Leonhard and enjoyed it. She loves animals.

She’s got to pick a third book now, in the 200ish page range. Any suggestions?

    1. Some of the older books don’t always read to contemporary kids. How old is she?

If general middle grade age, perhaps Odder? The Lost Rainforest? Pax? One and Only Ivan?

For fantasy, perhaps Hero and the Crown, The Jumbies, The Legends of the Lotus Flower . It’s hard because these tend to be longer!

agree on The Giver! Also maybe Among the Hidden? Or other books by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

She might enjoy “Dealing With Dragons” (240 pages) and the other Enchanted Forest Chronicles series (4 books total). They are light fantasy, very funny and they cleverly play with fairytale tropes.

    3. I like a lot of those shows too and here are some of my favorite young adult fantasy books:

      – The Raven Boys
      – Shadow and Bone
      – Cemetery Boys
      – A Sorcery of Thorns

    4. I remember loving Igrane the Brave by Cornelia Funke as a kid, I think it’s the right reading level and it’s 224 pages. The same author wrote the Inkheart series, it was one of my favorites growing up.
