I recently got into reading. Started with romance, shifted to motivational. Currently reading ‘The Road Less Travelled’. I am kind of at a crucial stage of my life, have got a lot on my plate so I’m all about staying positive and motivated.
Now here’s the thing- I’ve come across recommendations for works by Kafka and Dostoevsky; I wanna know if their books are like, on the depressing side? I’m the type who often digs deep into the meaning of life, and I know it can get a bit heavy and gloomy. I want an advice if I should read their books right now if I am trying to avoid any negative vibe?
If I decide to give it a go, I’d appreciate a suggestion on where to begin with their books. TIA :))

A little gloomy maybe, yeah. Still worth reading though, would recommend.
Yes, they are not really happy books but more on heavier, philosophical side. I would not recommend them if you are trying to avoid that vibe for any reason. Perhaps in the future when you feel like you can handle that better since they are great reads.
Dostoevsky can be pretty depressive but it depends which book you’re reading. i suggest you start with The Idiot and then if you like it try Crime and Punishment. Crime and Punishment was very depressing for me but The Idiot was alright. anyway everyone is different, so you just start reading and if you don’t like it you can stop reading it. that’s not against any physical laws of our universe…
