Not sure if this is a bit niche but I enjoyed the passages in Lady Chatterly’s Lover that described how industry began to encroach more and more on the landscape etc. and the consequences “progress” had for society. It seems like a really interesting period in time for those living through it, especially those who had been primed for a lifestyle that was disappearing.
