Do you know any books about that kind of thing? Even though it is a movie, I am searching for a book like Halloweentown for example but with a male mc wizard/witch. Or something like Sabrina as a book.
No high fantasy like The Witcher, Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones but other species like werewolfs, vampires and what not are okay as long as they are not in the complete focus. Romance is allowed.
Can have the most stereotypical tropes. Let him have a flying broom for example… or a black cat. Let him make potions. Or all of those things!
The mc himself can be funny, lighthearted or even have a dark past (as long as it is not the only thing he is thinking about) but I would LOVE him to have some kind of smoothness. Ever watched Back to the Future? Gimme some Marty McFly Vibes lol
