I only put no Stephen King because I’ve read some of his books already and want to explore other authors. My birthday is coming up and my friend wanted to know what I wanted and honestly, I could only think of asking for books. I’d ask her to just get any horror books she can find but I’d rather ask for specific books to make it easier on herself. I love any kind of horror novel but mainly those based somewhat in reality (meaning not fantasy or other-worldly), and I also particularly like psychological thrillers where characters just kind of slowly descend into madness (sci-fi can also fit into this category if you know any good sci-fi horror/thrillers). Ironically I get scared very easily with any kind of horror movie but it’s my favorite book genre.

If you like King check out author Micheal McDowell. Blackwater Saga, The Elementals, Gilded Needles in particular are amazing.
