There are vast number of books out there and it just feels really nice to have tutors suggest the good and important ones to read, so that you understand the discourse on the chosen topics, who are the important writers etc.

I feel like since I graduated I’m not reading and learning anymore. My brain cells are dying. I am no reader tbh, but now I miss being in the academia. Regularly getting exposed to chapters/extracts that contain great ideas and arguments…

Also I am not really interested in reading the latest books on the NYT best seller list, I want to get exposed to more timeless, academic books like I did in university. (I know new books can still be great.)

Can anyone recommend me a good book/writer that you got recommended in school that is also not too much of a difficult read? For example, I just hold ‘The Human Condition’ by Hannah Adrent at my local library. I would be interested in any subjects as long as it’s not a super dense read.

I recently emailed an old prof and let him know I’m sick and bed bound and can’t do much but I can read so would he send me some suggestions and he sent me a massive list of recommendations. Could be worth reaching out 🙂 I’ve stayed in touch with several old professors.
