Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive are seared into my brain as I see people walking around with a screen strapped 0.5″ from their face, talking about how things will never be the same…
I can’t stop thinking about Bobby’s mom in Count Zero, jacked into soap operas, drooling, all day in her miserable apartment.
Neuromancer and the trilogy as a whole are obviously largely credited as the start of the Cyberpunk genre, which has a less than optimistic view of these technologies and the end states they’ll create. If you haven’t read them, now is the time.
