Hello lovelies!
I’ve been doing some reading on gender based inequality/violence and societal trends, etc. and then yesterday saw something random on TikTok that gave me a thought. I’m realizing I have never read a first-person account of the experience of commiting female infanticide. I’ve read accounts of women who grew up in societies where this is a pervasive problem, but no accounts from the PARENTS who are actually committing these acts.
In some places it may be commonplace but I suspect there is still shame associated with the act itself, which would explain the lack of firsthand accounts, when we know undeniably that it is a problem. People might not want to admit that they’ve done it.
I’m particularly interested in the perspective of the *mothers* who go through with the decision to get rid of their infant daughters for any number of reasons.
Does anyone know if a book like this exists?
