Hey all, so I read a ton have a big pile of tbr and own plenty of books, however recently I decided I really needed to find a series with deep world building with lots of attention to detail. For reference I would say series like Game of Thrones does a great job with this, LotR does this obviously, and I’ve heard Brandon Sanderson does a good job of this as well. Are there any other series that y’all would recommend that are similar in style to these or even better and more in depth? I just am looking to get lost in a world of books and amazing characters!

Brandon Sanderson did an AMA here [you might want to take a look](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/) 🙂 [Here’s a link to all of our upcoming AMAs](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/wiki/amafullschedule)

Wheel of Time is good at world building.
I would recommend the Witcher series.
Obligatory Malazan suggestion.
Empire in Black and Gold (10 book series called Shadows of the Apt) by Adrian Tchaikovsky
-Edit- this series is also connected to another trilogy he wrote called Echoes of the Fall. Echoes deals with a seemingly completely different world but one that is subtly connected (without spoilers) to the Shadows series.
Definitely the wheel of time. The world building is a major factor for it being my favourite fantasy series. Also dune for some space fantasy
Maybe try the EarthSea series by LeGuin. It’s not nearly as dense and detailed as the others on the list, but the world building is pretty amazing given how short each book is.
Edited for typo
Worm by wildbow his Other stuff is great as well
