Did we like this book as much as Goodreads has it ranked? I just finished and only gave it 3 stars, closer to a 3.5-3.6/7 and I was a bit turned off because of the situation with flashbacks. The author goes 7 years back, then present, then 1 year back, present, repeat. It isn’t super confusing, but clocking in at 646 pages (print) it seemed unneeded. Curious if anyone else thought if they had cut around 100 pages if the story would have had a better pace and seems more streamlined. Obviously I’m no editor, and I do want to say I love this author. A 3.5 is still high, I liked the book overall. Especially the ending, the last 100 pages are great, it’s more the middle that was just plain dull. Thoughts? Hot takes?
