Hi Everyone,
I am looking for some recommendations on Japanese novels that are considered “cult classics” either in Japan or globally. What I mean by this is subversive, experimental, borderline weird novels that may not have had a huge commercial success but have kind of slithered their way into the literary canon because they resonated with a devout fanbase either upon release or several years later.
At the moment, I consider Ryu Murakami’s novels to be in this category, but am looking for other suggestions.
Thanks!
