My mother has an extremely deep and broad cookbook collection. Most of these books retailed in the $30 to $50 range. She has roughly 2000 cookbooks, most of them hard cover and in near perfect or perfect condition

My mom is nearly 88 years and we are streamlining…living simple, living light…and we want to try and sell these books.

I completely understand that cooking and baking has declined in this world of fast food and home deliveries and most people get their ideas off the internet.

However, I have been a bit baffled that book companies that buy peoples books and resell them most often offer 0 cents to 17 cents. I dont want to have to try and sell them myself through ebay or amazon or anything of the sort…I dont really have the time not to mention shipping costs.

Even if we could get $1 or $2 per book, that would be a big chunk of change.

Perhaps this is not the right forum to post but would apporeciate any ideas or guidance as to selling strategy or places to post my question.

The only way you’re going to make the money you’re after is by selling them yourself. You’re trying to get rid of a genre of book that has died over the past five years. Used book stores (like where I work) cannot afford to offer $2-4000 for your 2000 cook books that are not going to sell. Some are probably worth money, like if you’ve got some old Betty Crocker binder-style or comb bound. But nowhere near the amount you’re trying to get. Bundle them on Facebook marketplace or eBay. Good luck!
