I started reading it around August 2023. I was reading the Tamil version of the book. I was able to complete it by Jan 15th 2024. I am not a voracious reader but I fairly don’t take this much time for a book even though the book is long. The feeling when I was reading this book was completely different. It was actually tiring. But the weird part is that I was not able to give up on this book. I was not able to start off another book also. My mind was just hooked onto this book as to find out what are all the sufferings Rashkolnikov goes through.
At one point I even thought tat Dostoevsky should be overrated but this man is a legend. I have never read or felt or seen such intricate emotions conveyed to me through any medium for tat matter, be it books or movies or speech.
The translation was also very good.

It’s nice to hear this and interesting because from what you say you weren’t, after reading some of it, expecting to be drawn to it let alone to find how powerful a writer Dostoevsky can be. Don’t suppose you’d be tempted to try Brothers Karamzov next, would you? After a bit of rest, relaxation, and reflection of course.
By the way, do you know of any good books in Tamil that might have been translated into English?
