Right now I’m reading the Expanse and I love it and I’m halfway through the fourth book. But I’m going to need a book to read as a break from the series. For me the best kinds of books are short, breezy and usually not sci-fi or fantasy. Examples of other “palate cleanser books” include Lessons In Chemistry and Crazy Rich Asians.

Have you read any Taylor Jenkins Reid? They are palate cleansers for me, and Marian Keys and Erin Kelly. Erin Kelly is thrillers though. And my breaks aren’t from Sci-fi and fantasy but from reading heartbreaking domestic fiction. I need laughs or murders in between.
My latest palate cleanser was [Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58733693-remarkably-bright-creatures?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=vIYfXOm8v4&rank=1).
Also, [Tom Lake by Ann Patchett](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/63241104-tom-lake?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_8) and any of the crime novels by Jane Harper or Anthony Horowitz.
Hmmm. . . . what about *The House in the Cerulean Sea* by TJ Klune? Quick read, very approachable, sweet story. Many good feels at the end.
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
A quick and satisfying read.
