I’m currently rereading The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and there’s a theme that has really caught my interest that wasn’t in the first book. The spark of a secret uprising, a rebellion slowly starting in the dark… I love the use of code words/symbols, the guesswork of who’s on whose side, the unity aspects… Like I have to do my own detective work to figure out the characters’ allegiances.
Another book I read last year that felt similar is The Traitor Baru Cormorant (would recommend).
Do you know of any books that incorporate the same elements? It doesn’t have to be dystopian, I do have a preference for SFF but in general I’m open to all genres. Not so keen on YA though.
