I hate ‘If he had been with me’

I absolutely DESPISE THE BOOK. I have no idea how anyone cried to this piece of garbage. Give me one time you felt connected to the main character. She is literally just a wannabe edge lord who has a weird fetish for crowns (please tell me wtf the plot point was for that). And UGH THE WRITING. It felt so elementary and not polished at all (I couldn’t write any better I just expected with all the hype surrounding it, it would have been better). I felt like I was reading a middle school book with unnecessary smut and the nibbling on earlobes WHICH IS SO STRANGE. The only good part was when finny died (I hate the name finny makes me internally cringe, but maybe that’s because Ik a Finn IRL). But even then it felt like an emotional grab by the author. Like your main character stayed the same through all FOUR YEARS OF HIGHSCHOOL and you expect us to relate to her and feel for her?? And oh my gosh when she tried to kill herself with her baby!!!!!1!2!2!2!2!2!2!2!2! I honestly felt disgusted. I understand that mental illness is a very real thing but it just felt like another emotion grab by the author.
Ugh this book put me in the biggest book slump, thank the lord for AGGGTM
