    I’m searching for a book/book series.

Some features that I really want the book to have are:

-Finished its serialization. I don’t care if it’s 1 or 30 books, but I’m not looking for something whose story isn’t finished yet.

    – Almost “historical” fantasy. I don’t know if there’s a word for it, but I’m not looking for something too deeply involved with magic, or where magic is too…magical. An example might help. If you take Game of Thrones, they have dragons, zombies and magic but most of these things are treated very matter of factedly, just like they’d treat another asset or more man or a particularly good stronghold. Complicated power systems and similar is not what I’m looking for now.

Now onto to some assorted things I like, though it’s OK if the book in question doesn’t have all of these things.

    – Political focus. I’d prefer to steer away from the “young boy from a farming village discovers he is the chosen long lost prince” or ragtag band of misfits travelling together, preferring a cast made of enstablished politicians/nobility/leaders and based in a single location.

    – Adult cast. Not necessarily asking for an adult book with lots of sex, violence and swearing, but I appreciate character that at least have an adult mindset. That said, I’m not ruling out darker themes either, it’s simply not something that makes a difference either way to me.

    – Something of a tearjerker, with a somber and depressing vibe. I mean the general tone of the book, not just the ending (on that note, please don’t spoil the ending in the comments like “it has a bad ending” “The MC dies” and so on!)

-Lastly, something with a likable main love story, maybe? I know this is wildly subjective and romance isn’t usually the main focus, but if there’s a book that you think executed it surprisingly well send it my way!

    1. The Drowning Province by Celine Harvelle!! Read the summary it’s just that! Plus it’s a standalone so no 10+ sequels to worry about and the ending is INDANELY GOOD. I reread it all over again just to get a new perspective after finding out what happens in the end!
