Hi everyone. I have only recently gotten into reading at a later stage of life and am currently dipping my toes into many genre’s finding my style.
I have read some memoirs and biographies as well as fiction and non fiction.
Recently I have been right into Freida McFaddens books. And honestly things that stand out from the recommendations on the podcast JRVP.
I have been tempted to try some fantasy fiction but I don’t really like the whole “lord of the rings” or “game of thrones” vibe.
I would love something that’s to do with magic powers possibly but like “the boys” or “Hitchcock” that’s more a realistic type.
I even love the idea of a book I grew up having read to me “Faraway tree stories” I kind of like the idea of an imaginative world. I guess I just don’t like the castle and dragon style of things.. and would ideally like it to be more mature than a kids style book.
Again, open to trying different things as I’m still finding my style. I feel like I have falling more towards crime styled books somehow. Or thriller based.
When I finish a book and begin looking into what to read next I find it more daunting than finding a show or movie on a steaming platform. Because a book I’ll be invested in for longer and don’t want to hate it..
I’ll leave some of the recent books I have read below.
– multiple Frieda McFaddens like the Housemaid
– Convenience store woman, Sayaka Murata
– Earthlings , Sayaka Murata
– The Captive, Deborah O’Connor
– Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Mathew Perry
– Playing Nice, Jp Delaney
– The Chalk Man, C.J Tudor
– The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Heather Morris
And a couple more.
