This may not seem like a big deal to most but it is to me. I used to be a huge reader as a kid. I’d read whole chapter books in one day. I was levels above my classmates. But as school got harder, so did the reading. The books were longer and less interesting and I didn’t have the mental energy to read for fun on top of all the required reading and homework. So once I graduated I literally had no interest in reading at all. I’d avoid it at all cost. There’d be times I would see a book I thought I’d like, and only be able to get a few pages in before giving up.
But now I work with kids and I encourage them to read and I felt it was hypocritical of me to make them read if I don’t. So I decided to find a few books I thought were interesting and try them out. I just finished the first two last night! Harry Potter and the sorcerer stone and Miss Percy’s guide to the care and feeding of British dragons. Both great books btw, definitely recommend lol
