Hello Reddit. After receiving A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami as a Christmas gift, I haven’t been able to put it down and finally finished it.
It was an amazingly constructed albeit enigmatic story with parts I didn’t understand (which I chalk up to Murakami’s style), and a little cathartic as it’s the first book I’ve finished in I don’t know how long.
Only now I’ve found out it’s an “independent sequel” to “Pinball” and the final part of “The Rat Trilogy”.
What do I do? Do I go back and read them before exploring his later works? Do the stories connect between the three books or are they just the same characters? I’m at a loss. Advice is appreciated from Murakami readers and non Murakami readers alike.
