Looking for books where the person who died lived a normal life but was secretly a criminal or just a bad person, and MC going through the process of finding out about who the person truly was while they grieve the person they knew. Don’t care what genre or if they forgive the person or not. I’m not looking for books where there’s a plot twist that the bad person is still alive.

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. Major TWs and very gory book, but pretty much this plot.
