I want stories that look at/make a point about self-sacrifice. Fiction in whatever genre. Characters helping others at the cost of oneself and what that entails. Shows me the merits (it’s heroic, the right thing to do) and demerits (brings misery to loved ones, robs someone of their potential etc) And/or looks at the aftermath of a character going out like that. It doesn’t have to be like the main thing, it could be in the background, done subtly, but done. I’m thinking of reading Les Mis btw since it appears to deal with this
