It’s back to school for me and, my major being English Literature, I never have time to read something outside of schoolwork. Last semester I discovered a trick: I noticed that, even when I was always rushing from one place to the next, I tended to wait a long time for the subway or for doctor’s appointments—time I would inevitably spend scrolling through my phone. I decided to download the Kindle app and redirect my finger to the icon. I had been hearing a lot about R. F Kuang’s Yellowface, and while I was ultimately disappointed by the way it handles its themes, I became addicted to its storytelling. I felt the story was fascinating (at least for two-thirds of it) and the way it was narrated was very easy to get into for twenty minutes, drop, and come back to hours later. This was later in the semester, so I didn’t quite get to try my new habit with more books. During the winter holidays I read Jon Ronson’s Psycopath Test in the same way, twenty minutes at a time and it was a similarly stimulating experience.

Do you have novels and non-fiction that would help my habit?
