I just finished the Last Legion and it was the best of both worlds! If you’re looking for something where the fall of the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages meet this is the book for you.
I’m waiting on some decisions and I’d really like some suggestions to pass the time.
In exchange, I recommend the Cicero trilogy by Robert Harris and The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman.
Thank you in advance!

Eagle in the Snow by Wallace Breem
So, if you enjoy the fall of the Roman Empire, may I recommend a derivative work of The Foundation Series, by Isaac Asimov. The original Trilogy is loosely based on Gibbon’s The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. I know it may not be what your exactly looking for here, but the parallels are there, ands it is a great piece of writing.
I, Claudius by Robert Graves.
It’s fiction, but set up like an autobiography of the titular character and eventual Roman Emperor Claudius. It’s set during the beginnings of the Roman Empire with the reign of Augustus and continues. Very highly regarded classic that I thoroughly enjoyed.
