Has anyone read this? ( I’m currently on chapter 20 )
I feel like the book has a lot of potential. It’s interesting to toy to with the possibilities of prehistoric civilization. And it still remains a mystery.
This book is feels like scratching an itch but with a plastic cover on. Not really there. Its was nice to know about mysterious cultural places. But it’s like Graham playing detective, but he already had a narrative on his mind. So whatever he sees and experiences are filtered and presented supporting that sole idea.
It’s more subjective than an objective read. I have to always remind myself reading the book to clear his subjective narration and look at only the facts and the possible incidents.
A simple example:
The Olmec heads
He said without a doubt they look negro. Yes that’s how most Africans look NOW. It’s ONE possibility.
Viracocha and Quetzalcoatl. Undoubtedly they look Caucasian? -_-
I guess after reading Sapiens and Homo deus by yuval, this book seems more like a novel with inspiration from real figures.
Besides that it’s good. It’s interesting to know these artifacts and stories that shaped cultures.
