I know “Goodreads alternative” is a very common thread type over here, but I very infrequently see [hardcover.app](https://hardcover.app) mentioned. It’s still pretty decently small, but it’s my absolute favourite.

I find a lot of the threads on this sort of stuff focus on recommendations and discovery, lots of people selling storygraph for that.

But for me, I use friends (and indeed this subreddit!) for my discovery purposes, I treat book logging apps as a sort of journal, mostly for my own benefit and also for the benefit of the few friends I have to connect with. There’s still some social aspect that I’m on Goodreads for, but unquestionably the app I get the most *joy* out of logging on is [hardcover.app](https://hardcover.app). And that’s the most important thing for a book logging app, *joy*. It should feel great to finish a book and it should feel even greater to write down and share your experience, and hardcover does that for me.

It’s pretty, it feels great to use, and it doesn’t help Jeffrey Bezos drive a phallic rocket to another planet.

It’s still small and could certainly use a larger network of people, so I hope someone else discovers it today and likes it as much as I do!
