I’ve been reading a lot of romance and fantasy lately, but I used to read mostly nonfiction. I’m looking for something that gets back to what I used to really enjoy.
Books I loved that would fall into this category:
The Puma Years: A Memoir of Love and Transformation in the Bolivian Jungle by Laura Coleman – Laura spends her young adult years going back and forth to a wildlife sanctuary where she met a puma. This book had interesting insight into what is going on in the jungles of Bolivia.
A Death in the Rainforest: How a Language and a Way of Life Came to an End in Papua New Guinea by Don Kulick – anthropologist Don takes many trips over the course of years to stay in and study the language of an isolated village in Papua New Guinea to study how a language disappears.
A House in the Sky by Amanda Lindhout – Amanda is kidnapped in Somalia and held hostage. This books tells her story of how she got there and what happened while she was in captivity.
TIA!
