Which one is good to discuss a book? I am trying to find buddy reads and book clubs, but I’m not sure what’s better for discussing books, not products or news. With books, to deepen understanding, get insight, and reflect, which option have you found more effective and genuine? In a group? Or with another individual reader?

    1. I think it really depends on who you’re talking about. If you’re talking to one person who has really interesting insights in the book – for me someone who’s really smart but reads really differently than me, so I totally respect their opinion and at the same time it doesn’t agree with mine – one on one for sure. Groups can too easily turn into a “who is your favorite character?” but with the right people it can be exciting, because you all can end up with conclusions you wouldn’t have reached on your own.

I tend to prefer groups. With the right group, discussion elicits a broader diversity of opinions and debate than I’d get with just a one-on-one conversation. But go with whichever works best for you.
