I am looking for classics that are not to dull and fun to read. I‘ve already read a few and ones that I liked were for example „The Trial“ by Kafka, „Chess Story“ by Zweig or „The Handmaid‘s Tale“ by Atwood.
FYI, I didn‘t enjoy books such as „Lolita“ or „The Old Man and the Sea“ in case that helps.
Thanks

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
Madame Bovary was a blast. I knew it would be sad, but I did not expect it to also be so funny at times. Maybe my favorite 19th-century novel.
