I have been in a reading slump for two years. I’ve recently broken up and I feel v sad all the time and want to immerse myself in books.
First of all, I like an easy read. The book that I was currently forcing myself to read was When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi which is riddled with fancy words and phrases and my vocabulary isn’t that developed yet. I’d like to better my vocabulary and I’m fairly good but my current read can be a bit too overwhelming for me sometimes.
Nonetheless, I love a page turner. The last book I read was the Silent Patient. I love mystery/thrillers.
I also love books that make me feel something and are poignant and at times sad, my favourite book is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.
I like romance too but done tastefully and not v cheesy.
I would also like book recs for your early twenties for when you’re confused about life and where it’s taking you. I’m 22, turning 23 and v confused about my future lol so would like characters that I resonate with.
P.S Please don’t recommend any classics. And sorry for divulging too much into my preferences. Thank you!
